1.3 Biographical notes
Nicola Ciarletta (1910-1993) was an Italian art critic, theater critic, and film critic. He was philosophy professor at the University of Urbino and then at Sapienza University of Rome, and he was one of the founders of the journal “Il costume politico e letterario” together with Velso Mucci and Leonardo Sinisgalli. He alternated philosophical and artistic themes in his critical production, and he was in contact with numerous artists, writers, and personalities from the cinema and theater.

The Nicola Ciarledda collection was donated to the University of Urbino before the mid-1980s.
